This<br \/>\nStandard shares the purpose of UMB<sup>TM<\/sup> <sup>1<\/sup><br \/>\nensuring that an access terminal can obtain service in any system<br \/>\nthat meets the compatibi lity requirements of UMB.<\/p>\n<p>Compatibi lity, as used in connection with this Standard and<br \/>\nUMB, is understood to mean that any access terminal is able to open<br \/>\ndata connections in any UMB system. Conversely, all UMB systems are<br \/>\nable to open connections with any access terminal.<\/p>\n<p>Test methods are recommended in this document; however, methods<br \/>\nother than those recommended may suffice for the same purpose.<\/p>\n<p>The performance metrics in this Standard require an access<br \/>\nterminal to provide a single antenna connector for testing. Access<br \/>\nterminals having multiple antenna, such as for receive diversity,<br \/>\nshall provide a single antenna connector for testing. If an access<br \/>\nterminal has more than one antenna connector, only one connector<br \/>\nshall be used for testing.
