Hydrochloric acid is used to extract the iron. This test method is not directly usable to determine the total iron concentration of a sample.<\/p>\n<p id=\"s00003\">1.2 <span class=\"italic\">This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
