Introduction

GPRS-136 is the packet data service provided in TIA/EIA-136
(also known as UWC-136). A general description of the System
Architecture and Protocol Descriptions is provided in
TIA/EIA-136-330.

To provide very high data rates, GPRS-136 uses a 1.6 MHz bearer
channel, also known as 136HS Indoor. The upper layers of the
GPRS-136 protocol stack are common throughout UWC-136, applying to
each individual bearer (136+, 136HS Outdoor, and 136HS Indoor).
This document provides an Overview of the 136HS Indoor bearer
channel, configured as a traffic channel (PTCH), for GPRS-136. An
RLC/MAC entity for the 136HS Indoor bearer channel is specified in
TIA/EIA-136-362 and a Physical Layer is specified in
TIA/EIA-136-361.

Two implementation modes are defined. A Frequency Division
Duplex (FDD) mode uses separate RF channels for the Mobile Station
transmitter and the Base Station transmitter, thus allowing both to
transmit simultaneously. In the Time Division Duplex (TDD) mode a
single RF channel is used by both the Mobile Station transmitter
and the Base Station Transmitter, which requires that the Mobile
Station and Base Station transmit alternately, thus sharing the RF
resource in time.
