As part of an<br \/>\ninternational treaty, all US ITS standards are expressed in<br \/>\n&#034;ASN.1 syntax&#034;. ASN.1 Syntax is used to define the<br \/>\nmessages or &#034;ASN specifications&#034;. Using the ASN.1<br \/>\nspecification, a compiler tool produces the ASN library which will<br \/>\nthen be used to produce encodings (The J2945\/2 message set uses<br \/>\nUPER encoding). The library is a set of many separate files that<br \/>\ncollectively implement the encoding and decoding of the standard.<br \/>\nThe library is then used by any application (along with the<br \/>\nadditional logic of that application) to manage the messages. The<br \/>\nchosen ASN tool is used to produce a new copy of the library when<br \/>\nchanges are made, and it is then linked to the final application<br \/>\nbeing developed. The ASN library manages many of the details<br \/>\nassociated with ASN syntax, allowing for subtle manipulation to<br \/>\nmake the best advantage of the encoding style.<\/p>\n<p>This SAE Document specifies DSRC interface requirements for V2V<br \/>\nSafety Awareness applications, including detailed Systems<br \/>\nEngineering documentation (needs and requirements mapped to<br \/>\nappropriate message exchanges). These applications include:<br \/>\nEmergency Vehicle Alert, Roadside Alert, and Safety Awareness<br \/>\nAlerts for Objects and Adverse Road Conditions.
