This document specifies the design loads and the design procedures for the design of structures used in underground mines. It covers all steel and concrete structures used in underground mines, irrespective of the depth of the mine or the product being mined.<\/p>\n

This document adopts a limit states design philosophy.<\/p>\n

Typical underground structures covered by this document include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 box front structures at the bottom of rock passes;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 conveyor gantry and transfer structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 chairlift support structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 crusher support structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 fan support structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 fixed or retractable arresting structures for ramps (see ISO\u00a019426-5);<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 foundations for pumps, fans, winches and underground winders;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 high-pressure bulkheads;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 monorails;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 overhead crane gantries for workshops, pump stations and sub shaft winder chambers;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 settler structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 silo bulkhead structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 silo structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 structures supporting loose rock;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 tip structures, including dump structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 underground head frames;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ventilation control doors and other ventilation structures;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 walls and floors for safety bays, refuge stations and sub-stations;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 water control doors;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 water retaining structures.<\/p>\n
