Consideration of the effects of pin bending in a<br \/>\ndouble shear joint is also included. The data on axial failure<br \/>\napply to any metallic material. The data include empirical factors<br \/>\nthat are geometry and material dependent and are presented as<br \/>\ncurves. The theory on which their calculation is based is outlined.<br \/>\nA Fortran computer program, ESDUpac A9108, is provided to determine<br \/>\nthe factors for lugs fabricated from any metallic material. The<br \/>\nprogram requires input of the material characteristics and an<br \/>\nelastic stress concentration factor that may be found from ESDU<br \/>\n81006. A complete lug strength analysis calculation is included to<br \/>\nillustrate the use of the program and data.
