It also applies to centrally-sited vacuum cleaners and automatic battery-powered cleaners.<\/p>\n<p>This European Standard also applies to motorized cleaning heads and current-carrying hoses associated with a particular vacuum cleaner.<\/p>\n<p>Appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops and other premises for normal housekeeping purposes, are within the scope of this European Standard.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE Z101 Examples of appliance for household environment are appliances for typical housekeeping functions used in the household environment that may also be used by non-expert users for typical housekeeping functions:<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>in shops and other similar working environments;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>in farm houses;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>in bed and breakfast type environments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE Z102 Household environments include the dwelling and its associated buildings, the garden, etc.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As far as is practicable, this European Standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in household and similar environments.<\/p>\n<p>However, in general, it does not take into account<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><b>children<\/b> playing with the appliance,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>the use of the appliance by <b>very young children<\/b>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>the use of the appliance by <b>young children<\/b> without supervision.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is recognized that <b>very vulnerable people<\/b> may have needs beyond the level addressed in this European Standard.<\/p>\n<p>This European Standard does not apply to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>appliances intended exclusively for industrial and commercial purposes,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>wet and dry vacuum cleaners, including power brush, for commercial use (EN 60335-2-69).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE Z103 Attention is drawn to the fact that<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>in many countries additional requirements are specified by
