The updated 2010 edition of NFPA 13E: Recommended Practice for Fire Department Operations in Properties Protected by Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems provides critical information and procedures for fire department operations in properties equipped with fire sprinkler and standpipe systems. This important recommended practice addresses:

- Exterior sprinkler systems

The 2010 NFPA 13E includes additional illustrations of primary sprinkler/standpipe system valves and an improved illustration of a typical sprinkler system layout, using symbols from the 2009 NFPA 170: Standard for Fire Safety and Emergency Symbols. This edition also clarifies the use of alternative water supplies for fire department support of sprinkler and standpipe systems. Annex B contains recommendations for Fighting Rubber Tire Fires in Sprinklered Buildings.
