Guidance for training of personnel as well as maintenance and safe operation of control systems are also included. This Standard is applicable to both the coal and metalliferous mining industries.
Scope
This Standard sets out requirements for the design, construction, commissioning and acceptance criteria of remote control systems for mining equipment and machinery. It also recommends safeguarding practices and the provision for training of personnel associated with the operation and maintenance of such equipment and machinery.
It applies to systems where the remote controls are located with the operator who remains in visual and audible range of the equipment or machine being controlled. Typical systems of remote control may incorporate, but are not limited to, radio or infra-red transmitters and receivers or direct electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic connections.
