The test can be<br \/>\nperformed either on fibres as produced or after exposure to various<br \/>\nenvironments.<\/p>\n<p>This test applies to A1, A2, A3 and B fibres.<\/p>\n<p>The object of this standard is to establish uniform requirements<br \/>\nfor the mechanical characteristic \u2013 coating strippability. This<br \/>\ntest quantifies the force required to mechanically remove the<br \/>\nprotective coating from optical fibres along their longitudinal<br \/>\naxis.<\/p>\n<p>This test is not intended as a means to maximize fibre strength<br \/>\nafter the coating is removed nor is it intended to specify the best<br \/>\nconditions for field stripping of optical fibres.<\/p>\n<p>This test is designed for optical fibres having polymeric<br \/>\ncoatings with nominal outer diameters in the range of 250 \u00b5m to 900<br \/>\n\u00b5m.
