It is based on<br \/>\nlifting-surface theory and extends, to take account of camber and<br \/>\ntwist, the basic method of ESDU T.D. Memor. 6403 for spanwise<br \/>\nloading due to incidence of uncambered and untwisted wings. The<br \/>\neffect of camber is treated by considering it as imparting an<br \/>\nequivalent incremental twist to the wing. A simple artifice is used<br \/>\nto represent the twist distribution by a combination of linear<br \/>\nsegments. From the linear representation effective values of local<br \/>\ntwist are devised for use in the method. Spanwise loadings can be<br \/>\nestimated either at a given incidence or a given wing lift<br \/>\ncoefficient. The method is applicable to wing planforms for which<br \/>\nthe reduced aspect ratio (\u00dfA) is in the range 1.5 to 12 and the<br \/>\nsweep parameter (Atan?\u00bd) is in the range 0 to 6. The wings can have<br \/>\nany taper ratio (?) between 0 to 1 with straight, cranked or curved<br \/>\nleading edges, and straight or cranked trailing edges.
