The test described in this section gives a<br \/>\nfigure of merit related to the resolution of the display tube. The<br \/>\nresolution is dependent on:<\/p>\n<p>1. The electron beam distribution as it is focussed onto the<br \/>\nphosphor screen.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0Electron scatter and light scatter due to the granular<br \/>\nnature of the phosphor and the aluminum backing of the screen.<\/p>\n<p>3. Saturation of the phosphor.<\/p>\n<p>4. Internal reflections within the faceplate and panels mounted<br \/>\nonto the faceplate.<\/p>\n<p>5. Optical effects of coatings, etchings, etc., on the faceplate<br \/>\nand panel.<\/p>\n<p>Other external influences including ambient light are not<br \/>\naddressed in this method.
