Capacitors listed in<br \/>\nthis standard are used primarily for filtering, bypass, coupling<br \/>\nand blocking purposes where D.C. voltages predominate. They are<br \/>\ncharacterized by small size (compared to metal foil electrode<br \/>\ncapacitors) and by the ability to &#034;clear&#034;, or resume functioning,<br \/>\nwithin specification limits, following momentary breakdowns.<br \/>\nApplications using capacitors described in this standard should be<br \/>\nthose where high values of insulation resistance are not essential<br \/>\nand where momentary breakdowns can be tolerated.
