It is applicable to thicknesses up to 1.2 \u03bcm.<span style=\"font-style:normal\"><sup class=\"foot\">2<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align:left\">\n   <span class=\"note\" style=\"font-variant:small-caps\">Note 1<\/span>\u2014<span class=\"note\">Although this test can be used for coating thicknesses up to 1.2 \u03bcm, there is evidence that the results obtained by this method are high at thicknesses greater than 0.5 \u03bcm.<span style=\"font-style:normal\"><sup class=\"foot\">3<\/sup><\/span> In addition, for coating thicknesses above 0.5 \u03bcm, it is advisable to use a double drop of acid to prevent depletion of the test solution before completion of the test.<\/span>\n  <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"SectionLevel2\">\n<p class=\"caveat\">1.2&nbsp;<i>This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
